|Cashmere - in the raw|
I admit to being a cashmere junkie. I'm getting shots and have joined a Twelve Step program. I love all things cashmere, from the mundane gloves and scarves to the more zingy track suits and underwear. The wool is soft, dense, luxurious, soft, warm, soft and did I mention cashmere is soft? It comes from goats that live in Nepal, China, Iran and Afghanistan and is actually the soft underside of the hair, making it difficult to extract and therefore expensive. The location of the hair on the body of the goat also plays a big part in determining expense, as does its color, which can range from pure white to chocolatey brown. The quality of a finished cashmere piece is denoted by its "gauge", or how tightly the garment is knitted and it's "ply", or weight.
