If you're like the majority of Christmas shoppers, SOMEHOW the 25th of December pops up on your calendar magically three days before. Then comes the frustration of figuring out what to get ,finding a parking space and standing in line among other, equally frustrated consumers. But this year, Style Savvy is here to help you de-frustrate!<br />
<br />
For men, I heartily recommend THE GIFT CARD. Lowe's, Home Depot and hand car washes all sell them and no man still in possession of his man card would turn one down. I thought of the car wash idea because it's a treat men don't often allow themselves, so what could be better than giving something you'd like to get yourself?????<br />
<br />
For women, I also recommend THE GIFT CARD. Whether it's to Sephora, Saks or Nordstrom, a gift card in an appropriate amount will allow her to buy that cashmere sweater, a new eyeshadow set or the tiny cross body for evenings out that women never seem to buy for themselves. Added to whatever budget she's put aside, your gift might be the difference between buying shoes at Macy's sale and bringing home those gorgeous Choos she's been coveting. However she Chooses ( pun intended ) to use it, your gift card is more than money-it's potentially a wish come true!<br />
<br />
I guess I can't say enough about THE GIFT CARD. It's easy but welcome and allows everyone to do what the holidays are here to do-remind everyone that what counts is family, friends........and really great shoes!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7431539637394181619.post-66578550348584016502015-12-14T14:48:00.000-08:002015-12-14T14:48:56.424-08:00Gifting to Keep the Season Bright (and Rosy)! <div class="p1">

I am really referring to the gift of color.<br /></span><br />
<div class="p1">
<span class="s1">Most women don't realize that the cold, dry weather outside requires a change of makeup inside. Your skin is drier and so richer serums and moisturizers are needed. I also always go to a creamier foundation or tinted moisturizer and creme blush instead of powder. But do I keep this precious nugget of info to myself? I do not! I share it with you, my dear readers, because this is an easy gift to give and a thrill to receive. I like to get Sephora gift cards and Saks and Nordstrom certificates . I wrap them onto wine bottles or cosmetics cases, slide them into cross bodies and wedge them into the cover of a book.</span></div>

<span style="line-height: 23.4px;">I don't think I've realized lately how lucky we are to live in Las Vegas. The shopping experience has gone from glitz (only) to glamour (mostly) in the last ten years. With all of our malls and stores, I'm seeing a definite uptick in the number of tourists who arrive with empty suitcases and leave over the weight limit.</span></div>
<div id="yui_3_17_2_8_1449766525138_2004" style="background-color: white; color: #777777; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 23.4px; margin-bottom: 1.8em;">
I particularly enjoy going to the <a href="http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlet/las-vegas-north/about" style="color: #c92626; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Premium Outlet Mall on Grand Central Parkway</a>. With everything from Adidas to Armani, this mall is a cornucopia (did you like that Thanksgiving reference I slipped in?) of bargains. I took a client there who was thrilled to find a shoe store that catered to wide widths, a different client found a leather jacket she had admired but been unable to afford last season. </div>
<div id="yui_3_17_2_8_1449766525138_2013" style="background-color: white; color: #777777; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 23.4px;">
For all of you who are looking for great gifts for the holidays, allow me to suggest looking at the outlet mall. You can score as much as 75% off retail and feel like you're a real winner in a town where locals know better. And the gelato store is off-the-charts yummy, even when the decorations and temperatures remind us that we're in gift giving, not gelato, season!</div>

Have you ever seen a person wearing a nice outfit, only to have it ruined by shoes? I'm not talking the WRONG shoes.......I'm talking the ones that are so scuffed and worn down at the heel that they look like they're from the Salvation Army! They may have been good shoes once-upon-a-time but now they're candidates for trash item of the century!</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #777777; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 23.4px; margin-bottom: 1.8em;">
Other than a good tailor, the shoe pro can be your best friend. They don't just put on new heels and soles anymore. The best shoe guys can dye, restain, patch and even rework a pattern to create a whole new look - all to keep those shoes you love from ruining your next outfit. I once cut a pair of pale pink Jimmy Choos on the sidewalk and my shoe man took pieces of black patent leather and created an entirely new back - and they're once again one of my favorite pairs.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #777777; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 23.4px;">
Why am I telling you this? To encourage you to spend $50 instead of $500 on preserving your shoes instead of just replacing them. At <a href="http://www.greenvalleyshoerepair.com/" style="color: #c92626; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Green Valley Shoe Repair</a> on Wigwam and Pecos, the shoe man is an artist and he's saved many a shoe for me. So-you have options! All is not lost ! And he performs similar miracles on handbags...........</div>

And I realized, it's because I've been waiting for people ( that would be YOU ) to respond and write in and ask questions and participate in what I ( that would be ME ) thought was an audience participation thing. Then I realized it's not-that this is actually my forum to comment on all things style and stylish. So I'm returning to blogging, dear readers, and will be faithfully blogging every week on vital information ( like how to spot a fake Chanel bag ) and fun tidbits ( like how to spot a fake Birkin bag ). So watch out, Style Savvy readers............I'm baaaaaaccccckkkk!!!!!!</span>StyleSavvyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15531552529854324972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7431539637394181619.post-84858652836833541352014-12-29T07:57:00.001-08:002014-12-29T07:57:11.427-08:00Milan! - an article Lindsay wrote for Condé Nast Traveler<div class="p1">
<span class="s1">I have been very fortunate in my life. I have feasted on Greek prawns in Santorini and looked soulfully at my dining partner, even though I speak not one word of his beautiful language. I have lunched in cafes on the Left Bank and listened to the lovely cadence of the elegant French spoken there. I can pack for my clients in an hour and have them appropriately chic and ready for any situation in any country. But,.........Milan. It's more than a city. It's more than ITALIAN. It's cosmopolitan in a truly cosmopolitan way. In Milan, Chanel blends well with Peter Pilotto for Target. A black pencil skirt, black T and black Louboutins look as mod and "today" as Versace's AW 2015 collection. So when somebody needs me to pack them for Milan, I know EXACTLY where to start. I just don't know how to pronounce it!</span></div>
<div class="p2">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<span class="s1">In my dream trip to Milan, the first thing I want with me is an empty suitcase. Ferragamo, Dolce and Gabbana and Bulgari (did you HEAR that Italian accent? Nope, neither did I!) are just as expensive there as in the States, but in every piazza, all alleyways and each side street there are boutiques with magnificent cashmere and leather goods, awesome gold and stone work and shoes, Shoes, SHOES! (not that I have a shoe "thing", you understand, I just believe that women only need two things in life........shoes and cashmere. ) </span></div>
<div class="p2">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<span class="s1">The second thing necessary for my perfect romantic trip to Milan is George Clooney. No, not the married, madly-in-love-with-his-wife George Clooney, ladies! I want the one from Ocean's Eleven who is longing for Julia Roberts...........only I'm Julia Roberts in this scenario! This George Clooney speaks perfect Italian, adores me and can order tiramisu while making it sound as if he wants to nibble it off my body. (Oh, wait a minute, he does that anyway!). And the third, fourth and fifth items on my dream list are Cara Delavingne's body, a ten-year-old's metabolism and the ability to speak beautiful Italian!</span></div>
<div class="p2">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<span class="s1">Unfortunately I can't have three out of five of my list of dream goals. George, Cara's body and a ten-year-old's metabolism are all taken. Their substitutes, however, are available and ready to create my dream Milanese experience. My husband, who is the most romantic of all men ( except George Clooney) is ready and willing to carry both the empty suitcase and the one I packed at home. The one I packed contains the necessary attire to make me feel as sexy as supermodel Cara - and the look in my husband's eyes does the rest. He LOVES the narrow-leg men's cut trousers with the the silver patent leather brogues .......... and the fall season in Milan means white button down shirts and bright boatneck cashmere sweaters or pastel cardigans with a blanket poncho coat. Evenings call for those white Oxford shirts with black pencil skirts and those sky high black Louboutins, or the bright colored cashmere boat necks paired with midi-length skirts and chunky heeled boots. Accessories? Wear a pair of diamond studs,a pair of inky false lashes, a thick biker-link gold choker and a classic Ferragamo cross-body. Everything else is why you left home with an empty suitcase! Hopefully, shopping in Italian won't require more than pointing and indicating one, two or three items. Oh wait! How do you say "medium" in Italian?</span></div>
<div class="p2">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<span class="s1">The ten-year-old's metabolism is a wish that I can't fulfill, but I'll take the ten pounds I gain during that one romantic evening - and I'll enjoy every calorie. The mozzarella burratta with tomato, basil and aged balsamic vinegar is called "caprese" elsewhere, but in Milan it's called "heaven". Follow that with wild mushroom risotto topped with shaved Parmesan? Oh, yeah! The perfect entree is, of course, osso bucco Milanese with a fine bottle of Barolo and I'd have to complete this low fat, low calorie meal with that tiramisu that George........I mean..........my husband, had sexy plans for. A glass of Limoncello? Why not? </span></div>
<div class="p2">
<span class="s1"></span><br /></div>
<br />
<div class="p1">
<span class="s1">And that leaves dream list number five. I have the clothes and the empty suitcase just waiting to be filled with buttery leather and cashmere the weight of a cloud. I have a beautiful man who adores me and therefore adores my purchases. We have a romantic dinner in the most cosmopolitan of cosmopolitan cities. I can make some of this happen by pointing, nodding and looking hopeful. But "Prego" and "Grazie" only go so far! Now, if only there was a program that could help me say "Yes, I'd LOVE one in EVERY color!"</span></div>

Recently I did a closet makeover for a lovely lady named Beth. We got along very well over the phone, so I was looking forward to working with her. My eagerness was stoked further when we met and she correctly named the designer of my jeans. Walking into her room-sized closet and seeing a huge jumble of name-brand clothes, accessories and shoes didn't even curb my enthusiasm; I just knew that we'd have fun and get a big job done which, unless I'm mistaken, is the primary function of Style Savvy.</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcaR9T5hhnt98RrX7KyOVvtjlB51cpKdLYaCry_-s4g-TkArpylEZAVNZ1YCkTqvHAELVu4g76lo-felyu1nQay4JnC0oIAiB0sOMc9GDUMcdKJweNu3AnyGQt53qYaYV5uHvcLHOzzEk/s1600/clothes_pile.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcaR9T5hhnt98RrX7KyOVvtjlB51cpKdLYaCry_-s4g-TkArpylEZAVNZ1YCkTqvHAELVu4g76lo-felyu1nQay4JnC0oIAiB0sOMc9GDUMcdKJweNu3AnyGQt53qYaYV5uHvcLHOzzEk/s1600/clothes_pile.jpg" height="153" width="320" /></a>At this point in a closet makeover, I usually sit down with the client and discuss her life; does she have children, work outside the home, have a husband with mob ties......you know, the usual background info. I need to know if I'm dressing a woman who needs 20 business suits or someone who spends the majority of her life in designer jeans. You can imagine my shock, then, When Beth told me that she didn't work, spends most of her time gardening and has no children. Her husband is a laid back sort of dude and their social life together consists of staying home with friends or going out casually. There was a definite disconnect between Beth's designer-filled closet and her relaxed, chill lifestyle!!.</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
Then, Beth came clean. She was a designer junkie. Every season she promised herself that this was it; no more spending every cent on a new Chanel jacket, no further binges at Armani. No need for the au courant Louboutins or another jar of Natura Bisse moisturizer at $450 each. She would buy for the lifestyle she had, not the one she desperately wanted. And she would learn how to use EBay!!!</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUTI7DeI2Kd-x7DB1GjAP5IlaGPhkWGLEkiyK3rnf8z_xgtUQrZWgnii8NbpcJf8I30PfrWfLDSwlAE-GtFewXruZibWklWwkvh8c3R5K1cYzLZdSSyolDovJdxIfLza6A7OlbPQgyDJM/s1600/closet_cleaning.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUTI7DeI2Kd-x7DB1GjAP5IlaGPhkWGLEkiyK3rnf8z_xgtUQrZWgnii8NbpcJf8I30PfrWfLDSwlAE-GtFewXruZibWklWwkvh8c3R5K1cYzLZdSSyolDovJdxIfLza6A7OlbPQgyDJM/s1600/closet_cleaning.jpg" height="211" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="p1">
I told Beth that it's not enough to say the words, you have to mean them. She would have to realize, in her own brain, that she could be just as stylish, just as fashionable without spending designer dollars. MORE stylish, even, because she'd have to rely on her own viewpoint and not what she was told by a handful of high priced stylists (those stylists! LOL)! And so we began. We successfully purged Beth's closet of everything that was no longer fabulous, (dragging that too-young-for-her Oscar de la Renta out of her hands was difficult, but worth it!). We altered or dry-cleaned anything that could be altered or dry-cleaned and we filled in gaps with lifestyle-appropriate choices ( don't I sound like a snoot!). The result? Happy client with a great wardrobe and happy stylist who had once again proven the "trend" is today, but "style" is forever!!!</div>

I received a TREMENDOUS disappointment when Sarah Jessica Parker's shoe line came out at Nordstrom. I am a shoe addict and could barely contain myself until the line came out. It was advertised as being in a moderate price range, so I was awaiting them eagerly, with baited breath even. (what on earth IS baited breath, anyway??). I was treated to an early showing and that's when I felt an overwhelming lack of joy, a complete sadness, a distress. The line,was NORMAL. I didn't see any styles or colors that struck me as original and fresh. All the hoopla (and what is hoopla, for that matter?) and NOTHING. <br />

Some designer collections have opened at low price point stores, like <a href="http://www.target.com/c/peter-pilotto-for-target-brand-shop/-/N-55hsm" target="_blank">Peter Pilotto for Target</a> and <a href="http://www.kohls.com/catalog/catherine-malandrino-for-designation-clothing.jsp?CN=4294713815+4294719810" target="_blank">Catherine Malandrino for Kohl's</a>, and provided new, exciting fashion at reasonable prices. I am a great believer in fun, low cost clothes and I was delighted to buy pieces like a motorcycle jacket for $89 and a pleated, flared skirt for $29. <a href="http://www.kohls.com/catalog/jennifer-lopez.jsp?CN=4294874717&pfx=pfx_google_roi&cid=aagjlo&gclid=CKOY0vrpvb0CFQqCfgodkDsAjQ&gclsrc=aw.ds" target="_blank">Jennifer Lopez' collection for Kohl's</a> is different and modern. These three celebs are obviously working with great investors to make their low cost lines as much like their upper end counterparts as possible. Brilliant! Genius! Gwen Stefani launched a kids' collection for <a href="http://www.target.com/c/harajuku-mini-for-target-brand-shop/-/N-5al7m" target="_blank">Target</a> and an inexpensive shoe set for <a href="http://www.shoedazzle.com/index.cfm?action=catalog.gx" target="_blank">Shoedazzle</a> that are awesome! So I was stunned to see SJP'S shoes. Boring! Exactly what you'd wear to a garden party at your third favorite aunt's home in Alabama. The colors are copies of colors seen everywhere and the shapes are most common to the sales rack at Macy's. THIS for $350???? They're not classic and timeless; they are the worst of the moment. My innocence has been shattered. I will never look forward to a celebrity launch in the same way again. I have seen yet another proof that "trend" is today, "style" is forever.</div>

Sorry I'm late with this blog, folks; my husband spirited me away on a short cruise ( a "booze cruise"). We left Long Beach, CA and docked in Catalina and Ensenada. Short little vacay but I just wanted some down time, you know? Unfortunately, I found that a cruise is NOT the place to go for a stylist to turn off her mind. I am flabbergasted at the clothes I've seen and couldn't wait to tell you about them!</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
When you go on a trip, don't you, a normal person, pull pieces out of your closet with an eye towards making outfits out of them? Do you at least TRY to match colors, styles, SEASONS??? Well, here on a cruise ship for four days I have seen no evidence that these people are normal!!</div>
<div class="p1">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
First, I've seen ladies in their forties, fifties, SIXTIES! wearing clothes, AND BIKINIS, that they shouldn't be caught outside the bedroom in, unless they're making a horror movie. Ladies, I believe you need to accept and love the body you've been given, but that doesn't mean that 230 pounds of saggy, pasty flesh should be shoved into a size 10 bikini and paraded as a badge of honor....."Look, Patty, it fits!". </div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
I'm seeing women of all ages wearing outfits ( and I use the term loosely ) that must have come out of two different closets. A blue and white gingham top paired with brown corduroys? Schizophrenic! Denim shorts worn with an orange sweater that had more pills than my medicine cabinet? Scary! Two women wearing matching metallic tops to dinner? Horrifying! And then my pet peeve, which is evident EVERYWHERE......women in capris, oversized Ts and clunky tennis shoes....nauseating! Yes, there are some ladies in weather appropriate, age appropriate, thoughtfully put together ensembles, but they're a serious minority. Do people just dump the contents of different drawers Into their suitcases and wear whatever comes to hand? They sure seem to!</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
And men, you're not exempt from this rant. Those of you in your fifties and sixties wearing Speedos......STOP IT! And if your wife or girlfriend can't match her own clothes, don't trust her to do yours!!! You end up with a Tommy Bahama floral shirt and black dress pants, looking like an aging wise guy. And, gentlemen, knee-high black socks with sandals? Please don't. Please.</div>

Well, I'm going back to relaxing. I'm going to turn off my mind and pay no attention to the couple next to us wearing matching HUGE T shirts and plaid shorts, white socks and sandals. I will not let them into my head. I won't. But I just HAVE TO lean over to her and say......."Hi, my name's Lindsay and I'm a personal stylist and I'd like to help you go from "drab" to "fab"!! Ok, I'll admit it.....I'm tired of Fashion Week. Last week we learned some (arguably) fascinating lessons about style and trend but now, after watching "Gisele walks for Balenciaga" and "Victoria's Secret Angels sit front row at Chanel", I am willing to kill the next columnist who describes a collection as "an urban metaphor". So I'm back to clothes with a bit more "fun" than "fantasy".....clothes that real women want to talk about. </div>

In most of the country it's never looked LESS like spring, but here in Vegas we are lucky enough to already see daffodils. This means that, horror of horrors, my favorite winter pieces will have to be pulled out of rotation soon. Do you have an item or two in your closet that you will be sorry to see go? Mine are, without a doubt, my over-the-knee boots and my denim moto jacket. But spring (not a real season here; more like a two week warm up to "damn hot") has it's own fun ideas and these are a couple of them that you shouldn't miss.</div>

White. And not just white....ALL white. A white top with white pants, white booties and a white jacket thrown over the top. What makes this new are the textures the whites come in. Eyelet lace mixed with satin paired with suede. It all works together to shout "Spring 2014" or separately to go with other pieces in your wardrobe. For example, black and white. Geometric slashes of it. I have a pair of diamond-patterned heels I can't WAIT to wear. They blend seamlessly with my polka dot peplum top, white tuxedo jeans with the black stripe and a black and white cabbage rose-printed cardigan I got at a yard sale for $3. You get the idea. Or, if you're not ready for all black and white, use your new black and white shoe as a fun way to perk up jeans and a black T......maybe with black and white sunnies???<br />

To make a right, 90 degree turn off black and white, start collecting your pastels now! Never has spring brought so many different shades of watermelon, cotton candy and grass. They look like a Monet painting when they're worn together. They look as if you were going to a New Orleans wedding when they're paired with your whites and like "punk-with-an-edge" when worn with black. <br />
<br />
How style savvy is THAT!!!!! And I didn't use the term "urban metaphor" once. Doesn't that prove that "trend" is today, but "style" is forever???</div>

Last week I promised that I would focus on Fashion Week.....or should I say, Weeks! We've had New York, London and Milan all showing us what next fall and winter are going to look like. But! Here at Style Savvy, we don't focus on runway and we sure don't focus on 7 months from now! What I want to take from the fall/winter collections is how style will be affected by trends in color, fabric and shape. <br />
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
The big trend in coats was the robe - shaped coat that tied around the waist. It was shown in heavily embroidered, brightly colored fabrics. This trend brought to mind the "princess" style of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Sure, the fabric was new and the shape was more exaggerated but it was the "it" coat of the1960s; the style hasn't changed.</div>
<div class="p2">

Another resurrected style was the cropped top. Shown in quilted cotton or angora wool, it was the same cropped top that was in style in the 1950s and 1960s. Ditto with the season's A-line skirts, cropped trousers and men's look.<br />

It stands for " beauty balm" and is a foundation/ tinted moisturizer/primer all in one. It has moisturizer, silky feeling primer and good coverage! If you haven't tried one, don't stress.......they've only been on the market about two years and they've already been eclipsed by the NEWEST rage, the CC cream!<br />

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">
CC creams take BB creams and add skin care. Most have SPF 30 and all are dark spot correctors and fine line diminishers. But what, asks my clever reader, does this have to do with style? Well, simply put, these creams allow you to simplify your life, which is always in style! Gone are the days of serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and powder! But do they work?<br />
<br />
I haven't asked my aesthetician yet. I have a feeling she'll say that one product can't do it all. But I tried several CC creams and found that they go on like moisturizers but dry to a matte finish like many foundations. And how easy are they???? No more layers of product. No more blending til my hand turns blue. And when I took the cream off that night, my skin felt smooth and soft, like I had done it a big favor. So, does that mean they work?<br />

The jury is still out. Certainly they feel good but we don't know about the long haul. Should we all hop on the bandwagon? Is this a trend that'll be out in short order? I'm not sure yet. I gotta tell you, though, I think they're worth a try. I'm not going to toss my wardrobe of serums, moisturizers, primers and foundations, but I'm adding Peter Thomas Roth's CC cream and I'll see how my skin looks and feels in a few weeks. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; border-spacing: 0px; font-family: Helvetica;">If you're anything like me, cleaning out one handbag to switch to another is a chore that is less fun than cleaning the cat's litter box and takes more time than summiting Mt Rainier. Where on earth did all these dirty Kleenex come from? Why, exactly, do I have four pairs of sunglasses in my purse? THERE'S the lipstick I've been looking for, couldn't find and bought a replacement for!! Sound familiar? If you're like many women, you hate this task so much that you've switched to " the summer purse " and " the winter purse " and have one "dressy" bag, probably black, for going out at night which holds your license, a credit card, cell phone, Kleenex, keys and a lipstick. But!!!!! Bags are an accessory just as jewelry is and can make or break an outfit like shoes can. So why do you go to the trouble of planning an ensemble and selecting accessories, only to spoil it by grabbing the "summer purse" which doesn't go with your outfit at all? C'mon, ladies, we can do better than this!!!<br /><br />The bags-of-the-moment are adorable little cross-body bags in the vibrant colors of spring and summer. Another trend is the large, roomy but structured satchel. Yet another popular purse is the tote, which holds the kitchen sink, along with every electronic gadget you could possibly pack. The list of shapes and sizes and colors is endless! I tell my clients yet again to spend on the classics and scrimp on the trends. But, again like shoes, there are some basics that belong in everyone's closet. If you will take care of them, buy the best that you can afford. If you treat your bag like a backpack, though, buy less expensive pieces and you won't feel bad when they give up the ghost.<br />Every woman should have a good black and a good brown handbag. These are the foundation pieces of a solid "bag wardrobe" and will be used A LOT, so spend here. Buy a classic shape and style that holds your necessities but has room for extras. These two bags should be ones that you can see yourself carrying to go out for dinner - that will ensure that you buy pieces that look good, along with functioning well. You will also need an evening bag and color here depends on your lifestyle. If you go out often, you should invest in a <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0xhAy6KTUHfciBHL5ipB_EXQlNpwdAjQjk6pvSd5GVcns9BK_lEkLZwYr6DdhJwB0VppQr-W6m6Qw69DcNMI0SXpkeH7Io4K3NBCWuJQFcIzqN3pToToBcZx1t0NB8zUPHU9nsssA2yE/s1600/hermes-kelly-bag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="216" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0xhAy6KTUHfciBHL5ipB_EXQlNpwdAjQjk6pvSd5GVcns9BK_lEkLZwYr6DdhJwB0VppQr-W6m6Qw69DcNMI0SXpkeH7Io4K3NBCWuJQFcIzqN3pToToBcZx1t0NB8zUPHU9nsssA2yE/s320/hermes-kelly-bag.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>

spiffy clutch and the most neutral is not always black. Metallics go with EVERYTHING and if you also buy a small black bag on a chain, you've got your basics covered. <br /><br />Every woman should have a tote bag that goes with you on days when you need "roomy". You know, when you're carrying your stuff along with two bottles of water, a few snacks and an extra pair of shoes for trying on clothes. If you're only going to buy one, I would suggest a fun color that will go with jeans and black pants ( face it, that's what we wear 50% of the time!). Try a red patent leather, a yellow canvas or a denim bag! You'll look sharp without stretching your other bags til they cry "uncle"! You will also need the kind of everyday bag that looks right with jeans, skirts and shorts. I go for camel, stone and grey here, in a satchel shape that has a shoulder strap and carry handles. This is a casual bag so we're not looking for something structured.....more like a soft, floppy bag but this one can be worn summer or winter. The last of the foundation bags is one that goes with your summery dresses and outfits. I suggest a light colored bag here but I stay away from leather.....light leather is easy to stain and looks battered fairly quickly. Canvas and straw are great choices and look modern and pretty in pale blue, natural and cream or white. <br /><br />Now is when the fun really begins.....when you have your basics and can get a little more <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrLgwXILt6WtbFlmOHW4cZQi1T3TetS1wHjs7GouXEgKffYOpUd2dmJS4P2b1ZLywzVsZsvbu-7RpbSWk5CMeDoRQDkt_CiNGoilC5KfaFMEAOACBHm8xUoeMokK-wMfMzICIdbUhNvJQ/s1600/pink_hobo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrLgwXILt6WtbFlmOHW4cZQi1T3TetS1wHjs7GouXEgKffYOpUd2dmJS4P2b1ZLywzVsZsvbu-7RpbSWk5CMeDoRQDkt_CiNGoilC5KfaFMEAOACBHm8xUoeMokK-wMfMzICIdbUhNvJQ/s320/pink_hobo.jpg" width="208" /></a></td></tr>

creative and edgy. A large envelope shaped clutch in a bright patent leather looks great with jeans as well as dresses. A summery hobo in a floral adds to your look when wearing shorts or summery skirts. A knockout color can be a neutral too; imagine jeans shorts, a black T and a pink messenger bag! And for evening? How about a small square clutch covered in sequins? Or a long, slim satin bag? There's no end to the possibilities once your basics are taken care of. So approach purses the way you would any other accessory. Get your workhorses first and add on as your budget and needs allow. Another bonus? Switching purses frequently cuts down on the amount of crap you end up carting around. Can't you just hear your wardrobe saying "thank you"? But always remember - "trend" is today, "style" is forever!</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; border-spacing: 0px; font-family: Helvetica;"></span>StyleSavvyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15531552529854324972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7431539637394181619.post-90271680109264274072013-04-08T11:46:00.001-07:002013-04-08T11:46:25.681-07:00Bonjour, bodacious babes and boys,<div class="p1">
Ok, folks, it's THAT time again! No, you sex fiends, not THAT time........the OTHER time. Time to change over our closets and wardrobes from fall/winter to spring/summer. We've already had the discussion about hangers, so I assume ( because I am all-knowing ) that you have ditched those pathetic wire and plastic excuses for hangers and stocked up on the good ones. Now it's just a question of "what do I put ON the good hangers? What do I keep and where do I send the stuff </div>
I'm not keeping? And that's where today's blog comes in.......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD_bCBeGhryFn9ZxcJmIN9V63X5TFnn8YAXNxMdNJTcx6W_j4K0RmYKQcpmvqpmoJyXh_MN1_rBpM830mENb7rc6HJH-P8AM-hO0e1CArA3QNt77iGBJpLSaMK7IiEg-8nKDDeP7zxH_A/s1600/clean_closet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD_bCBeGhryFn9ZxcJmIN9V63X5TFnn8YAXNxMdNJTcx6W_j4K0RmYKQcpmvqpmoJyXh_MN1_rBpM830mENb7rc6HJH-P8AM-hO0e1CArA3QNt77iGBJpLSaMK7IiEg-8nKDDeP7zxH_A/s1600/clean_closet.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
I can't say this often enough.......keep ONLY what fits and flatters. Yes, you lazy b?!?&?!s, that may mean TRYING THINGS ON. Any winter pieces that you didn't wear should get the "do they fit and flatter" treatment and if the answer is yes, wash them or clean them and stow them away. If the answer is no, you may choose to donate them to a charity. All the pieces you did wear should be checked for needed repairs, cleaned or washed and put away. NEVER store clothes uncleaned. It's best to pack them into plastic storage bags or boxes if you can........I store mine under my bed and the guest room bed. That keeps all the shelving in my closet available for SHOES!!!!!</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
Now look at your spring/summer clothes. If they're coming out of bags and boxes they may need pressing or laundering. Go through them to ensure that they still fit and flatter and hang them on your beautiful new hangers. While you're doing that, make lists of what you need to supplement the pieces you have. Is it time to replace T-shirts and tanks? Need one pair of pastel jeans to trend-up your collection? Want a pair of single-sole pumps to enhance your warm weather look? Now is the time to either shop or plan out which sales to hit. You may crave the of-the-minute bag or jewelry......take a look at The Find on Sunset or Charming Charlie in Town Square for fun but inexpensive additions to your wardrobe. Whatever you need, finding it now will make your ensembles complete for when you want to wear them.<br />

Remember, ONLY KEEP WHAT FITS AND FLATTERS. Only buy what makes you feel and look great. Spend on your classics and save on your trends. And shop BEFORE you desperately need to in order to prevent buying last minute and settling for something less than wonderful. I love all things cashmere, from the mundane gloves and scarves to the more zingy track suits and underwear. The wool is soft, dense, luxurious, soft, warm, soft and did I mention cashmere is soft? It comes from goats that live in Nepal, China, Iran and Afghanistan and is actually the soft underside of the hair, making it difficult to extract and therefore expensive. The location of the hair on the body of the goat also plays a big part in determining expense, as does its color, which can range from pure white to chocolatey brown. The quality of a finished cashmere piece is denoted by its "gauge", or how tightly the garment is knitted and it's "ply", or weight.<br /></span><br />

You know, style is all about expressing your self-your individuality, your "you-ness". And yes, I did just make up that term! Anyway style, therefore, is about so much more than clothes and accessories. It goes beyond makeup. Believe it or not, style goes beyond the shoes I'm willing to kill for. Style extends to.........food. </div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9FsEy7aOj3RUcPYOzRtzVDFdnJHhWtPojDAIyK9pzcDbJkOarsbKBDpT6DQnY9hhkaE3d6wpXGUbse2auzDkQArCw9fIB-ggmgcH10gMVzaqmDUkkQ_dHZocrQMojInoVnhOkWIu_Ucg/s1600/style_in_fridge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9FsEy7aOj3RUcPYOzRtzVDFdnJHhWtPojDAIyK9pzcDbJkOarsbKBDpT6DQnY9hhkaE3d6wpXGUbse2auzDkQArCw9fIB-ggmgcH10gMVzaqmDUkkQ_dHZocrQMojInoVnhOkWIu_Ucg/s320/style_in_fridge.jpg" width="228" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVRhr7ZojHCQlt6FUKIP1Ua4uEetmbu3Tff5aP9Mx1rlDrfZRYuC9Byud46USSE8iR3c7k8j646ULEBnfwMGfMmmJ8a07sauguLokvshPUQGpNouw3K7C9Qj1hQLGVSfdWGtrXSByHvd4/s1600/broccoli_purse.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVRhr7ZojHCQlt6FUKIP1Ua4uEetmbu3Tff5aP9Mx1rlDrfZRYuC9Byud46USSE8iR3c7k8j646ULEBnfwMGfMmmJ8a07sauguLokvshPUQGpNouw3K7C9Qj1hQLGVSfdWGtrXSByHvd4/s200/broccoli_purse.jpg" width="200" /></a>Yes, food. The way you reflect yourself in jeans is the same style you reflect in eating - both the way you eat and what you eat. Have you ever noticed that when you're a careful, detail oriented ensemble creator, you're also meticulous in food preparation and dining style? The preparation you give to your outfits is similar to the care you take in dining in or out! Are you a casual, throw-it-together stylist? Do you also find yourself naturally throwing together a buffet dinner or going out for a spontaneous mangia-fest? What about those of us who don't care about presentation but make delicious food? Betcha we struggle with accessories but instinctively know what clothes look good on our bodies! Are you a dainty eater or one who likes to get in there with hands and teeth and enjoy every succulent bite? If you look at your stylistic choices, I'll bet you find that same style reflected in your wardrobe!</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
Still don't believe me? The next time you reach for "the usual" dinner, look at what you're wearing. Chances are you're wearing "the usual" outfit. When you decide on a restaurant for dinner, are you wearing casual, comfortable clothes that say "I'm going out to a casual, comfortable meal" or are you in designer duds that suggest a more upscale experience? When you entertain, doesn't your menu choice and the atmosphere it creates suggest your outfit? Sure it does. Because you dress yourself according to your style.....and you live your life the same way. Your style is expressed in everything you do, from your refrigerator to your closet. So eat heartily or delicately - you're eating like YOU. Because "trend" is today, but "style" is forever!!</div>

Last week we discussed hangers and I told you what your closets should NOT be wearing. It follows, them, that this should be a blog on what your closets SHOULD be full of, aside from Dior and Armani!</div>
<div class="p2">

<div class="p1">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Container Store Wood Hangars</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Hopefully my Joan Crawford impression was good enough to have you immediately removing all wire hangers and consigning them to the trash, or back to the dry cleaners. But what to replace them with? There are as many options as Louboutin has heel heights, so I'm just going to talk about my faves, which all come from the <a href="http://www.containerstore.com/welcome.htm" target="_blank">Container Store</a>. To start, I use one variety for coats and jackets. They're wood, heavy and have wide, sloping, contoured shoulders. They hold jackets securely and maintain the garment's shape. I also use them in our guest coat closet. </div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3coFTcvSK_Uef1c4Ee3H1LxWNyANvohro82ioSHqeU1vdcaluuxq4FojAcylwB2fODfHxVergcCyNvWI1AEwvdmyzdyKHRSV9Xt5LYxOPU8WE7Nuc5-amlLKb9CnVFI7PXpncV2qPrkU/s1600/padded_hangars.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3coFTcvSK_Uef1c4Ee3H1LxWNyANvohro82ioSHqeU1vdcaluuxq4FojAcylwB2fODfHxVergcCyNvWI1AEwvdmyzdyKHRSV9Xt5LYxOPU8WE7Nuc5-amlLKb9CnVFI7PXpncV2qPrkU/s200/padded_hangars.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Padded Hangars</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I also use a specialty hanger for delicates - camisoles, tanks, halters and slinky dresses. They're satiny and padded and sort of square, so items don't slide off. These allow me to hang things I'd otherwise have to fold and put in a drawer, which I don't like doing because then things get creased.</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUkCpHEyXV2k7WLmKrA0KhWGEUn9Nj7dd_l8oxJuCpy4rxK0z2RfJrwdbZsKSAbnF1-Ew-juLGaECa2hnzO8-Cm3JPQCwmUDdGlpTS1EukKefSQ9EuCnpmsZ5K6FM7F2i0LbtV48AecJY/s1600/clip_pressure_hangars.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUkCpHEyXV2k7WLmKrA0KhWGEUn9Nj7dd_l8oxJuCpy4rxK0z2RfJrwdbZsKSAbnF1-Ew-juLGaECa2hnzO8-Cm3JPQCwmUDdGlpTS1EukKefSQ9EuCnpmsZ5K6FM7F2i0LbtV48AecJY/s200/clip_pressure_hangars.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Pressure and Clip</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I use two different types of hangers for skirts and pants. Pants get hung from the hems using clip hangers or, if they're lined, from the waist. Either way, the impression from the hanger doesn't show in the fabric. Skirts are hung either by lingerie straps or using pressure hangers, which the Container Store calls clamp hangers. Since all of the specialty hangers are wider profile than a standard shirt hanger, they separate your garments naturally and reduce wrinkling caused by over crowding. </div>
<div class="p2">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijfdYHuH23scDRBdBbkayrtgnKA1wxWJt3GFiRYCHXUdNSW7uKF2pdEDO0BTQXf9lZdIS7Ed-biK4MtrlDQCN6oskhJXma4eixzOFGULYpr2FIIVqLTyR5_dq5AsKzrP59iVbqwqcVpAg/s1600/Soft_touch_hangar.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="107" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijfdYHuH23scDRBdBbkayrtgnKA1wxWJt3GFiRYCHXUdNSW7uKF2pdEDO0BTQXf9lZdIS7Ed-biK4MtrlDQCN6oskhJXma4eixzOFGULYpr2FIIVqLTyR5_dq5AsKzrP59iVbqwqcVpAg/s200/Soft_touch_hangar.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Soft Touch Hangar</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Last but not least is your basic shirt hanger. I like plastic.....the ones the Container Store calls soft touch. They have squeezy stuff ( a highly technical stylist term for........squeezy stuff ) which prevents wide necked items or folded pants from slipping off. They have lingerie strap holders and belt or scarf holders. They're just very versatile and not exorbitantly expensive. They're well made and they last. Most important, all of these hangers really do protect your clothes. So they're not trendy, they're styling...because, as we all know, "trend" is today, but "style" is forever!<br />

It seems as if every time I do a closet makeover I find an insult to my sensibilities; that disaster of the dressing room, that bastard of the boudoir.........the wire hanger. Yes, I'm going to go all Joan Crawford on your butts, because the wire hanger is the evil love child of your previously adored dry cleaner and has no place in your closet! Banish it, I say! But, why?</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihU7V3E_rvJXijnt4myoGOVxHc8EzT4_44rh9B0GK96lmeEgd4ZdvGTv5c_uQaEMnUoEA3kA00b-ddt6hXoSp4JtbhzYxTVGkAKThMrekz7i3L0FXNDHsvjbEKH6q_i1ANYpQ6jbMNu54/s1600/no_wire_hangers_joan_crawford.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihU7V3E_rvJXijnt4myoGOVxHc8EzT4_44rh9B0GK96lmeEgd4ZdvGTv5c_uQaEMnUoEA3kA00b-ddt6hXoSp4JtbhzYxTVGkAKThMrekz7i3L0FXNDHsvjbEKH6q_i1ANYpQ6jbMNu54/s1600/no_wire_hangers_joan_crawford.jpg" /></a>Wire hangers are used at dry cleaners because they are low profile, thin, economical and identical. That said, they are also your clothes' worst enemy! ( Well, except for marinara sauce, motor oil and moths, anyway!). The very thing that makes wire hangers so convenient for cleaners is the thing that can ruin your clothes in a heartbeat..........they're WIRE......, DUH! Is any part of your body made of wire? Does any part of your body LOOK like wire? NO! Your body has depth and substance - and your clothes hang PERFECTLY on your frame of bone and flesh. Hangers must mimic the body if they are to support your clothes and care for them! So, reason ONE for not using the suckers is that they are too narrow to allow your pieces to drape naturally, which causes UNNATURAL lines and lumps. Have you ever taken a shirt off a wire hanger and noticed that you had a little bulge at the shoulder where the hanger pushed the shoulder out? HORRIFIC! Or noticed that there's a line along the shoulder seam that doesn't align with the seam itself? HORRIFYING! Or gone to retrieve a dark shirt from its wire jailer and seen a suspicious line of dust? HORRIBLE! </div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
Reason TWO for not using the suckers is their NARROWNESS. They allow clothes to be pushed together, crushed and therefore wrinkled, mussed and creased. Not good. Why press your pieces if they're going to be smooshed like dirty laundry? Reason THREE? They're metal, so when they come apart, they're SHARP!!! Their points poke holes in delicate fabrics and the twist at the top is a minefield waiting to catch innocent trim and threads. Is it any wonder that La Crawford came unhinged???</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
You may have gathered by now that I dislike wire hangers! Because they destroy clothes, they are an enemy of your style. Even your least expensive ensembles deserve better. What else can you use? The options are endless, subject to your budget and space allocation. I'll go into that next week with some suggestions.......until then, remember that "trend" is today, but "style" is forever!!!</div>

We've all seen the fashion victims who take a stylish staple and turn it fashion backward. Are you afraid that that's you? Well, I'm here to tell ya.......everyone can rock the legging look! All it takes is awareness of your body type and some attention to detail and you can be a stylin' señorita !!!<br /><br />First of all, what are you proud of? Love your legs? Bewitched by your butt? Got a wasp waist? Whatever body part you want to emphasize - or de-emphasize! - is what we're focusing on. Leg lovers, think Lycra, shine or sheen and thin, colorful fabrics that cling to your curves. You can wear the metallics, the leathers (or faux leathers, for the price conscious or the vegans among us!) and the patterned, detailed pairs that show off toned thighs and curvaceous calves. Pair them with tops that hit right below the fullest part of your thigh and heels that say "oh yeah......I know I'm hot"! This is also a look that can camouflage a too-bodacious booty, hide the handles and blot out the belly, so what's not to love?</span><br />

Team your leggings with tops that stop at your waist ( if you're not worried about your tummy ) or your hip, if you are. Slightly longer, even tunic length tops can also work if you belt them tightly to denote your derrière. If you're lucky and have a well defined waist, that belt will emphasize it; if you don't, that belt will create it. It's win-win!!<br /><br />Leggings look lovely under loose, tunic length sweaters or long shirts. They can take a warmer weather dress and extend its wear time. They make dressy dresses look modern and edgy and work well with any shoe, from flat slouchy boots to the highest of high heels. They're versatile! They're flattering! You'll feel great in them so you'll look great - and isn't that the essence of style? Because, remember, "trend" is today, but "style" is forever!!!!</span>StyleSavvyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15531552529854324972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7431539637394181619.post-26243724480952587262013-01-28T12:20:00.000-08:002013-01-28T12:20:33.418-08:00It's Monday, my magnificent Mesdames et Messieurs!
<br />
<div class="p1">
Today I need to talk about something which I never thought I'd discuss. It's serious, folks. It's more complex than Obamacare. It's more pervasive than the smell of lilies in a small room. It's thought about more often than sex or lipstick. I am referring, OF COURSE, to......."gasp"...........the wearing of COMFORTABLE shoes.</div>

It seems as if every time I take a client shoe shopping lately, I am faced with this desire to wear only what's comfortable. Good grief, if I wore only comfortable shoes I'd be down to my last 100 pairs!! Where did this mania arise? What happened to the good old days of buying shoes because they were art, and to heck with how they felt? My late governess used to say "for beauty a girl must suffer" and I admit to ENDLESS evenings wondering how soon my shoes could be removed, but soul-satisfied that they were SO gorgeous. I even admit to buying shoes without trying them on, because they were so beautiful they HAD to be mine. And now???</div>

The proliferation of comfortable shoes has made the ballet flat popular again for the first time since Audrey Hepburn. Flats now show up in skins, fabrics, bejeweled and bedazzled, pointy toed, cap toed, round toed. Flat riding boots, flat over-the-knee boots, flat ankle boots and flat Uggs dominate a shoe department landscape. They are sequined, studded, hand-pieced and every color in the rainbow. They ARE art! GASP!!!!! This season you CAN be both trendy and comfortable, stylish yet actually able to walk. Who'd have thunk it?</div>
<div class="p2">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1">
Of course, for dedicated shoe whores like me, there will always be sculptural, hand made, fragile, delicate footwear. It's just that on-trend and in style may also mean we can walk in them for more than 20 minutes. Style, it seems, has come to realize that looks and wearability belong together and that being comfortable in one's own clothes, like one's skin, is a truly stylish way to dress. And remember, "trend" is today, but "style" is forever!!!!</div>
